Taking the headache out of laundry by building an app that is actually easy to use and completely transparent.
Executive Summary
WashCare is a conceptual UX/UI case study focused on solving the friction of on-demand laundry services. Through rapid prototyping and usability testing, I designed an end-to-end booking experience that completely removes the cognitive load of manual scheduling.
During testing with initial prototypes, the redesigned flow resulted in 100% task completion rates for scheduling a pickup, proving that the transparent pricing and 1-click calendar interface successfully resolved the major pain points users face with existing laundry apps.

Context
Targeting busy professionals who need a reliable, on-demand laundry solution without the cognitive load of manual coordination.
Objective
Design an end-to-end user experience that makes it incredibly easy to book a pickup and tracks order status in real time.
User Pain Points
When we talked to actual users, we found out they were hesitant to use laundry apps because they didn't trust the pricing and found the scheduling annoying.
Hidden Pricing
Users abandoned the funnel because the final cost was rarely transparent before pickup.
Scheduling Friction
Coordinating pickup and delivery times required multiple phone calls, frustrating busy users.
Status Anxiety
A lack of real-time tracking left users wondering if their expensive clothes were safe.
Poor Onboarding
Lengthy account creation steps deterred first-time users from exploring the service.
What We Fixed

- ✓Live Order StatusAdded a pizza-tracker style timeline for laundry so users always know where their clothes are.
Research Insights
We conducted user interviews to figure out exactly why people hate doing laundry, and why they hate laundry apps even more.
Users don't trust per-pound pricing.
Hover to revealWe added a visual weight estimator so users understand the cost beforehand, bridging the gap between abstract numbers and physical clothes.
Delivery windows are too vague.
Hover to revealWe shrunk delivery windows from 4 hours to 1 hour to respect the user's time and built notifications for driver tracking.
Onboarding drops off at payment.
Hover to revealWe moved credit card capture to AFTER the first pickup is scheduled, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for first-time users.
Product Design Lifecycle
How we built the app from the ground up, starting with actual user feedback instead of assumptions.
User Personas & Journey Mapping
Developed specific profiles for 'Busy Professionals' and 'Students' to align feature prioritization with actual behavioral patterns instead of internal assumptions.
Information Architecture
Completely overhauled the sitemap. We made sure that the core booking flow—finding a driver, picking a time, and checking out—required fewer than three taps from the home screen.
Wireframing & Prototyping
We iterated rapidly using low-fidelity sketches. We ran 15+ remote usability tests just to ensure the calendar interaction didn't frustrate people trying to book a rapid pickup.
High-Fidelity UI Design
Established a clean, accessible design system. We utilized plenty of whitespace, large readable typography, and modern UI elements to evoke a sense of cleanliness and trust.
